Beacon of Guidance on the Heights of Eloquence - Vol 1

The "Beacon of Guidance on the Heights of Eloquence" is an English translation of the commentary written by Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi on the esteemed collection of Amir al-Mu'mnin Ali's ('a) words, "The Nahj al-Balaghah". The present volume includes the text of sermon number 1 and its commentary, which is largely about God's creation of the universe.

Imam Ali's words compiled in the book Nahj al-Balāghah have rendered it a unique collection of teachings and guidelines for man's personal and social life. Despite such grandeur latent within it, this book had not attained a standing commensurate with this comprehensiveness in the Muslim and even Shi'a communities. This was, in fact, the concern that prompted Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi to write a book called Beacon of Guidance on the Heights of Eloquence as a commentary on the Nahj al-Balāghah, to facilitate everyone's understanding of and access to the treasures within this instructive collection. This series includes commentaries on all the sermons, letters and aphorisms compiled in the Nahj al-Balāghah. Furthermore, in each section, following a discussion of the Isnad, the context, and the time in which Imam Ali (ʻa) delivered these words, the related points and lessons contained in each section are discussed.
