Borderline Personality Disorder and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

Premenstrual disorders affect all women in general. In a smaller scale, women experiencing PMDD is a smaller percentage but represents a higher scale of suffering, amid the multiple and more incapacitating symptoms. PMDD, in conjunction with borderline personality, can at times be confusing in terms of differentiating them from each other and can lead to misdiagnosis and exacerbation of the symptoms, aggravating one of the two disorders, both of them, or unintentionally creating a third one.

Becoming aware of how they both interact can help guide the patient, her family, and the treating professional in developing better coping mechanisms that can contribute to their recovery.
